SUSAN  L. MYERS: When Susan went to high school at Northern in the mid-to-late 1960’s, the only two varsity sports available for female athletes were softball and field hockey. She excelled at both becoming a Northern High School Hall Of Fame member. To show her versatility, she went to Slippery Rock State College (University) in 1969 and became a two-sport athlete in basketball and field hockey and led the Rockets field hockey team in scoring three of her four years, became a team captain and was a two-time MVP. Susan continued her field hockey career after college as a seven time United State National Team member from 1972-1979. She played on the very first United States I.F.W.H. World Cup team of 1975 and her hockey tours included trips to Australia, New Zealand, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Scotland, England, Wales, South Africa, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, and Cuba. She started her career in education and coaching at Carlisle High School, then moved to Old Dominion University in Virgina where she served as an assistant for 22 seasons. Susan was I on the sidelines for six of Old Dominion's nine Division I Field Hockey national titles as well as "The Streak," a string of 66 consecutive wins spanning from 1990-93. After nearly a quarter century at ODU, Susan retired in 2012.
